HCL gas is stripping out when the HCL acid is heated by steam, which is anther common way to obtain HCL gas besides the synthesis reaction between hydrogen and chlorine gas.
Technically speaking, by-product HCL gas is absorbed by water or diluted HCL acid to generate 28% ~ 37% HCL acid, which will be desorbed further more to attain the pure HCL gas. The concentration of desorbed azeotropic acid is between 17% ~ 21%, which could return to the absorption system for recovery.
